Dorzolamide + Timolol
Dorzolamide + Timolol is a combinational eye drop solution that contains two medicines, dorzolamide hydrochloride called an ophthalmic carbonic anhydrase inhibitor and timolol maleate called a beta-blocker.
Dorzolamide + Timolol is indicated for the-
- reduction of elevated intraocular pressure (IOP) in patients with open-angle glaucoma
- ocular hypertension who are insufficiently responsive to beta-blockers
- The dose is one drop of Dorzolamide + Timolol in the affected eye(s) two times daily.
- If more than one topical ophthalmic drug is being used, the drugs should be administered at least five minutes apart
How to administer eye drops:
Commonly associated side effects include-
- eye burning
- eye stinging
- eye redness
- blurred vision
- eye tearing
- eye itching
- a bitter, sour, or unusual taste after putting in your eyedrops
- Only for ophthalmic use.
- Patients should remove their contact lenses before using this preparation and wait 15 minutes before putting them back in.
- Dorzolamide + Timolol contains dorzolamide, a sulfonamide that is absorbed systemically despite being applied topically. As a result, unpleasant responses similar to those seen with sulfonamides may develop when Dorzolamide + Timolol is applied topically.
Contraindication
Dorzolamide + Timolol contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the product and other sulfonamides-
Dorzolamide + Timolol is contraindicated in the following health conditions-
- reactive airway disease
- sinus bradycardia, sick sinus syndrome, sino-atrial block, second or third degree atrioventricular block not controlled with pacemaker, overt cardiac failure, cardiogenic shock
- severe kidney problems
