Remarks

Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide

Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide is a topical prescription medication used for the treatment of acne vulgaris. It contains two active ingredients: Adapalene, a retinoid, and Benzoyl Peroxide, an antiseptic. Adapalene works by normalizing the cell turnover and decreasing the formation of comedones. Benzoyl peroxide has a bactericidal effect on Propionibacterium acnes, a bacterium that is involved in the development of acne.

Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide is indicated for the topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 12 years of age and older.

  • Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide should be applied once daily in the evening to the entire affected area after washing the skin with a gentle cleanser and patting it dry.
  • A thin layer of the medication should be applied, avoiding the eyes, lips, and mucous membranes.
  • Sunscreen or sun-blocking agents should be used when exposed to sunlight, as this medication may increase sensitivity to sunlight and the risk of sunburn.

The most common adverse reactions reported with the use of Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide include-

  • erythema
  • peeling

  • burning
  • stinging

Adapalene + Benzoyl Peroxide may cause local irritation, including erythema, peeling, dryness, stinging, and burning.
