Diosmin

Diosmin is a flavonoid compound. Diosmin works by improving venous tone, increasing lymphatic drainage, and reducing capillary permeability. It also exhibits anti-inflammatory properties.

 

  • Diosmin is indicated for the treatment of chronic venous insufficiency, including symptoms such as pain, heaviness, and tiredness in the legs.
  • It is also used to improve the signs and symptoms of acute hemorrhoidal attacks.
  • Chronic venous insufficiency: Diosmin 1,000 mg/day for 60 days; MPFF 500 mg twice daily or 1,000 mg once daily for up to 6 months. 
  • Hemorrhoidal crisis: Loading dose of MPFF 1,000 mg 3 times daily for 4 days, then 1,000 mg twice daily for 3 days. 
  • Hemorrhoid management: MPFF 1,000 mg/day orally for 3 months. 
  • Hemorrhoidectomy: Starting on the sixth day after surgery, MPFF 1,500 mg twice daily after meals for 3 days, followed by 1,000 mg twice daily on days 4 to 7. 
  • Pelvic congestion/varicose veins: MPFF 1,000 mg once daily for up to 6 months; in women who do not respond, increase to 2,000 mg/day after 4 weeks. 
  • Varicoceles/Male infertility: MPFF 1,000 mg/day for 6 months.

 

  • Gastrointestinal disorders: Diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain
  • General disorders and administration site conditions: Headache
  • Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Rash, itching

 

  • Hypersensitivity: Patients with a known hypersensitivity to Diosmin or any of its components should not use this medication.
  • Pregnancy and breastfeeding: The safety of Diosmin during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Consult a healthcare professional before using this medication during these periods.
  • Pre-existing medical conditions: Patients with liver or kidney impairment should exercise caution while using Diosmin, as limited data is available on the use of this medication in such cases.

 

Contraindication

Diosmin is contraindicated in individuals with a known hypersensitivity to Diosmin or any of its components.
