Elemental Iron + Folic Acid is nutritional supplement. Iron is necessary for hemoglobin biosynthesis. Folic acid is a B vitamin necessary for cell proliferation, DNA, RNA and protein synthesis.
Elemental Iron + Folic Acid is indicated for-
- Folic acid deficiency
- Iron deficiency
One tablet daily with or without food or as prescribed by a licensed healthcare provider with prescribing authority.
- Nausea
- Anorexia
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhea
- Dark stool
- Constipation
- Iron absorption from the preparation may lead to excessive elevations in iron stores and cause Iron overload.
- Accidental ingestion of iron-containing items and subsequent overdosing is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children under the age of six.
Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the medication.
This medication contraindicated in patients with iron overload syndromes (e.g., hemochromatosis).
