Doxycycline + Trimethoprim

Doxycycline + Trimethoprim is a combination medication used to treat various infections caused by various susceptible organisms. Doxycycline is a protein synthesis inhibitor while trimethoprim is a folate antagonist.

  • Actinomycosis
  • Amebiasis
  • Anthrax
  • Anthrax Prophylaxis
  • Bacterial Infection
  • Bartonellosis
  • Bronchiectasis
  • Bronchitis
  • Brucellosis
  • Urinary tract infection

Doxycycline + trimethoprim can cause the following side effects.

  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Asthenia
  • Diarrhea
  • it should not be given to children aged less than 18 and in adults
  •  it should be reserved for infections that are not treated by other antibiotics.

Contraindication

Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to doxycycline or other tetracyclines such as-
