Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone

Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone is a veterinary drug used for the treatment of babesiosis and theileriosis in cattle and horses. Diminazine Aceturate is a diamidine compound that binds to the parasite DNA causing cell death. Phenazone is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that reduces inflammation and fever.

 

Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone is indicated for the treatment of trypanosomiosis, babesiosis and theileriosis caused by Babesia spp. and Theileria spp. in cattle and horses.

The following side effects may occur with the administration of Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone-

  • Injection site reactions (swelling, pain, and inflammation)
  • Hypersensitivity reactions (such as anaphylaxis)
  • Gastrointestinal disturbances (such as diarrhea and vomiting)
  • Neurological disorders (such as ataxia and seizures)
  • Hematological abnormalities (such as anemia and leukopenia)

 

  • Do not use in animals with a known hypersensitivity to Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone or any of its components.
  • Use with caution in animals with liver or kidney diseases, as Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone is mainly metabolized in the liver and excreted in the urine.
  • Use with caution in pregnant or lactating animals, as the safety of Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone in these conditions has not been established.
  • Use with caution in animals with a history of seizures, as Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone may lower the seizure threshold.
  • Do not exceed the recommended dose or duration of treatment.

 

Contraindication

Diminazine Aceturate + Phenazone is contraindicated in animals with known hypersensitivity to Diminazine Aceturate, Phenazone, or any of its components.
