Betamethasone + Neomycin Sulphate
Betamethasone is a topical corticosteroid that causes a quick reaction in inflammatory dermatoses and heals psoriasis-like skin conditions. Neomycin Sulfate is a bactericidal amino-glycoside antibiotic that is applied topically.
Betamethasone + Neomycin Sulphate is indicated for the following conditions-
- Skin infection
- burns
- wounds
- skin ulcer
- dermatitis
- eczema
Use in adults: This preparation should be applied in a thin layer to the affected areas of the skin 3 to 4 times per day. In chronic conditions, therapy withdrawal is accomplished by reducing the frequency of application until the cream is only used once a week. Alternatively, as instructed by your doctor.
Use in children: It should not be used on children under the age of one year. Unless your doctor specifies otherwise, a course of treatment for a child should not last more than 5 days.
This medication causes little side effects. Rarely the following side effects may appear-
- Cushing's syndrome
- acne
- thinning and dilatation of blood vessels
Long-term topical therapy with this formulation should be avoided because it may result in the development of many resistant microorganisms. As a result, only use a precise dose of this preparation in contaminated areas.
Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the medication.
There is no known contraindications of the medication in terms of food and drinks.
