Boron
Boron is an ultra trace mineral. Boron plays important role in teeth and bone formation. It is also required for estrogen and testosterone related activity and wound healing. Boric acid, a compound containing boron is used to treat vaginal infections.
Boron and boron containing products are indicated in-
- Osteoarthritis
- Yeast infection
- Skin infection (topically used)
No dosing amount has been established.
Boron can cause the following side effects-
- blue/green discoloration of feces
- dermatitis
- diarrhea
- abdominal pain
- nausea
- vomiting
- Boron has estrogen-like properties. If you have a condition that may be exacerbated by estrogen, avoid taking boron supplements or eating foods high in boron.
- Precaution is exercised in patients with renal insufficiency.
Contraindication
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the preparation.
