Remarks

Miconazole Nitrate

Miconazole belongs to a class of antifungal medications called imidazoles. It works by stopping the growth of fungi that cause infection.

Miconazole is indicated for the following infections caused by susceptible species of fungi-

  • Skin and nail infection
  • GI infections
  • Otitis
  • Skin infection: Two times a day, apply some cream to the sores. With your finger, rub the cream into the skin until it is completely absorbed. If the powder is used with the cream, both formulations should be applied once daily. Depending on the location and severity of the lesion, therapy can last anywhere from 2 to 6 weeks. Treatment should be continued for at least one week after all signs and symptoms have disappeared.
  • Nail infection: Apply the cream to the lesions once or twice a day. To avoid relapse, treatment should be continued for another 10 days after all lesions have healed.

Topical application of Miconazole Nitrate has almost no side effect.

Miconazole Nitrate is a topical medication. If significant amounts of the substance are accidentally consumed, an appropriate method of stomach emptying may be applied if it is deemed desirable.

Contraindication

There is no known contraindication of miconazole.
