Zopiclone

Zopiclone is a non-benzodiazepine hypnotic drug that works by enhancing the effects of a neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma-aminobutyric acid) in the brain. GABA is an inhibitory neurotransmitter that helps regulate brain activity and promote relaxation and sleep.

 

Zopiclone is indicated in-

  • Treatment of insomnia, including difficulty in falling asleep and staying asleep

 

  • Zopiclone is available in tablet form.
  • The recommended starting dose is 7.5 mg, taken orally just before bedtime.
  • Dosage may be adjusted based on individual response and severity of symptoms.
  • Do not take more than the recommended dose.
  • Avoid using alcohol while taking Zopiclone.

 

Common side effects of Zopiclone include-

  • headache
  • dizziness
  • drowsiness
  • muscle weakness
  • taste disturbances

 

  • Zopiclone may cause drowsiness, dizziness, or lightheadedness. Avoid driving or operating heavy machinery until you know how it affects you.
  • Zopiclone may cause memory impairment. Use caution when performing tasks that require alertness.
  • Zopiclone may cause dependence or withdrawal symptoms, especially with long-term use. Do not use for more than 4 weeks without medical supervision.

Contraindication
